P.Venkat Raman, a pioneering entrepreneur founded Guindy Machine Tools Ltd. (GMT) in 1959 for manufacture of engineering products of high quality. He provided solutions to various import substitution problems. His collaborative work with top level professors at IIT, Madras, generated in methods of surface plate calibration. A machine shop and laboratory spread over a 10,000 sq. ft. area are also available at this facility. The Cast Iron products are made of close grain Cast Iron with hardness from 190 to 210 BHN. Two grades available: Grade I - Hand Scraped; and Grade II - Machined.
