Exploration & ProductionWe have been exploring for and selling oil and gas as a joint partners with shell. Today our Exploration & sales (EP) business is involved in major energy projects, often in partnership with national oil companies. Our operations engage over 24,000 employees, joint venture staff and contractors in 37 countries. Gas & PowerOur Gas & Power business liquefies gas and transports it to customers across the world. We are also active in gas to liquids, wind and solar energy, and coal gasification technology.Oil ProductsOur Oil Products business makes moves and sells a range of petroleum based products around the world for domestic industrial and transport use. As part of our commitment to sustainability, it is developing lower carbon fuels and working towards increasing our own and our customers energy efficiency. ManufacturingOur global refining portfolio includes interests in more than 40 refineries and has a total capability of processing more than four million barrels of crude oil per day. Some 45% of our refining capacity is in Europe, 25% in North America, 25% in Asia Pacific, and 5% in Latin America and Africa.Supply and DistributionOil Products acquires and delivers feedstock and finished products to Shell businesses and customers around the world. Our network includes 300 distribution facilities and nearly 2,500 storage tanks in some 50 countries 9,000 kilometers of pipeline and a fleet of nearly 7,000 Shell owned or contracted vehiclesChemicalsOur Chemicals business produces petrochemicals for industrial customers. They include the raw materials for plastics, coatings and detergents. Oil SandsAs the era of easy oil ends, production of oil and gas from unconventional sources, such as oil sands a blend of clay, sand, water and bitumen will grow. Shell Oil Sands business extracts bitumen at our Athabasca Oil Sands Project in Alberta, western Canada and converts it to synthetic crude oil. We are one of the largest developers of Canada oil sands, employing the latest extraction and upgrading technology.Canada oil sands are one of the largest oil deposits on earth. With some 173 billion barrels of crude oil and spanning roughly 140,000 square kilometers, oil sands are located in the Athabasca, Cold Lake and Peace River regions of northern Alberta.
