Seal Flushing Plan 52 A plan 52 is an un-pressurised piping system with an external reservoir that contains a clean buffer fluid. The buffer fluid is re-circulated by a pumping ring in the seal chamber. It is typically used with non-pressurised dual (tandem) seals under low or atmospheric pressure conditions. The buffer fluid provides cooling and lubrication for the outer seal, whilst the inner seal relies on the pumped product leaking over the faces. Product leakage is contained by the buffer fluid and conveyed to the reservoir. Usually the reservoir is continuously vented to a flare or vapour recovery system. Heat is removed by the reservoir itself or an extra heat exchanger. For those applications where a pumping ring is not available or would offer an insufficient flow, has available magnetically driven seal liquid circulation pumps that can be incorporated
