The patchwork and mirror embroidery are done on cotton fabrics using common needles with either cotton or staple threads. This work demands for sheer labour, time and hard work. These are traditional crafts of the district of Barmer, which is one of the largest and the most backward districts of the exotic state of Rajasthan. The artisans comprise mostly of women belonging to schedule castes, scheduled tribes and refugees of the Indo-Pak wars.
