DESCRIPTION: Frame up restoration just completed to a car that came to us as an all original survivor showing 53,183 miles. Only seat coverings, tires, and battery had been replaced, everything
else was factory original. It had one paint job over the original factory lacquer paint. All body panels were factory original. The frame still had most of its original paint.
We were convinced that this was the real deal early on and looked for validation during the restoration process. We had the transmission and rear differential rebuilt and asked the rebuilder if the
internal parts looked like high miler parts, his answer was "no, not even close". The car came to us with the engine just rebuilt and assembled only for transport. We removed the heads to verify
what we had been told, measured the bore and photographed the domed pistons.
We set out to prove or validate the mileage as well as all the original factory components found on the car. We documented the process with photographs. These were 53 year old parts and were in
great shape because of their limited use. The inked dates found on some parts, such as headlight motors, proves this car had survived its age very well. The photos clearly show that the factory
crayon and inked markings are aged and therefore authentic. We produced a showing all the data compiled for this process. can be clicked for viewing.
Our goal was to restore a car to like new condition while maintaining some of its survivor characteristics. Since it looks new or AS DELIVERED, we listed all original components that were restored
rather than replaced. All restoration documents and photographs are available to the new owner. Body work photos exist showing the body stripped down to all original factory fiberglass panels
without paint.
While it is nearly a 100 point car, it was rebuilt to provide improved riding comfort and safety as an occasional driver. To that end the following parts have been installed:
Stainless steel sleeved calibers
Delco gas shocks
Monoleaf rear leaf spring
Pirelli P4000 tires
